Aquatic & Recreational Signage Style Manual
In 2001, Surf Life Saving Victoria developed the Aquatic & Recreational Signage Style Manual as a guide for land managers to adopt as a best practice signage system that users existing standards and risk management principles for the implementation of aquatic and recreational signage at aquatic locations.
Such a system was designed to best protect land managers and facility operators from litigation and more importantly gives a clear and uniform message to users so that they can make informed decisions knowing the risk associated with particular reserves, parks and facilities.
The Aquatic & Recreational Signage Style Manual is an essential resource for all land managers, developers, councils and facility operators implementing modifications or improvements to any signage relating to aquatic environments. This booklet provides detailed advice on signage design, Australian and international standard symbols for risks that may be specific to one particular environment. This is essential to provide consistent, clear signage, recognised by many different nationalities at all aquatic environments across Victoria and Australia.
