Life Saving Victoria's AGM was held late last month on the 22nd November 2008.

The 2007/08 LSV Annual Report was presented as well as related financial statements. The Annual Report is now available and can also be accessed via the LSV website. Congratulations are noted to Mike Martin who was re-elected as President of LSV for the next two years.

Strategic Review

As LSV moves through the Strategic Review process, the Board confirmed that Socom would be responsible for the development of the Water Safety Plan. This plan is expected to be produced by April 2009 and will cover future strategies for all of Victoria's water safety scenarios.

Furthermore, as part of the Strategic Review, the Board approved the recommendations that were developed from the senior club management road show. These recommendations aim to address numerous issues that were common to a broad range of clubs. The report has now been circulated with many of the recommendations already being instigated.

Working With Children Checks

In regards to the working with children checks (WWCC) that are being implemented across the organisation, the Board confirmed that no exemptions will be given for teachers and police officers. Whilst these professions have their own checks, there is no means of informing LSV if an indiscretion occurs ie. the information link is only made when a WWCC nominating LSV as one of the host agencies is completed.

2009 Great Australia Day Duck Race

Lastly, the Board endorsed the 2009 Great Australia Day Duck Race as a fundraiser for LSV and clubs. To adopt a duck please click here.
